 A RECENT REVIEW OF THE DIPLOMA OF POLICING PRACTICE (DPP) MEANS THAT.......

  • if you enrol in the May intake of the DDP, you could be employed as a Probationary Constable by the end of 2002, earning at least $42,000
  • if you enrol in either the May or September 2002 intakes of the DPP, you will study Session 1 at the NSW Police College, Richmond, and Session 2 at the NSW Police College, Goulburn
  • all new students will be eligible for a $100 per week accommodation and travel allowance
  • both the Undergraduate and Distance Education options of study have been shortened

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

All students must be able to demonstrate, upon commencement of Session 2, a fitness level that is approximately 80% of that required for the final physical assessment.

For applicants to the UNDERGRADUATE program, the previous one year pre-employment study program is shortened to 8 months. Here's how it works:

  • 13 weeks full-time study at the NSW Police College, Richmond

  • an 80 hour police placement

  • 14 weeks full-time study at the NSW Police College, Goulburn

For applicants to the DISTANCE EDUCATION program, the previous one year and fourteen-week long program is shortened to 12 months. Here's how it works:

  • two x 14 week part-time study

  • part-time police placement

  • 14 weeks full-time study at the NSW Police College, Goulburn

For applicants to the GRADUATE program, there is a 14-week session at the Police College, Goulburn, with an 80-hour police placement prior to commencement.
