Operation Paradox is the
largest community awareness campaign against child sexual abuse in
Australia. Operation Paradox aims to increase community awareness of
child sexual abuse and the role police play in protecting children
at risk.
Operation Paradox began in 1990 as a partnership between the NSW
Police Service and the Department of Community Services to provide a
united front against child sexual abuse. Since then, Operation
Paradox has received over 7000 calls.

What Happens If I
Report Child Sexual Abuse To Operation Paradox?
When you ring
Operation Paradox an operator will ask whether the call relates to
child sexual assault. The operator will then obtain as much detail
as possible on the offender, child or current risk. All information
is then assessed prioritised and disseminated to appropriate
agencies for response. All information will remain strictly
confidential. You can also provide information anonymously.

How Else Is The
NSW Police Service Tackling Child Sexual Abuse?
Serious criminal
child abuse is now being tackled by specialist teams. Joint
Investigation Teams (JITs) are made up of specially trained child
protection officers from both DOCS and NSW Police. JITs jointly
investigate child abuse allegations that may involve a criminal
offence - for example, child sexual abuse or serious criminal
assault. JITs also draw on the expertise of other government
departments such as NSW Health, to maximise support to victims and
families.
