Jeff Jarratt joined the
NSW Police Service in 1965 as a cadet and is currently Deputy
Commissioner, Field Operations.
In 1991and 1992, Jeff commanded the South Region and from 1994 to
1995, was North West Region Commander.
In 1993 and 1994, he was Assistant Commissioner, Professional
Responsibility charged with managing the Service response to more
than 5000 complaints per year and corporate responsibility for the
detection and prevention of corruption. As Corporate Sponsor of
property theft during 1994 to 1997, Jeff instituted programs to
combat the problem including the successful annual operations of
"Cosmos" and "Ivy".
During the Wood Royal Commission into the NSW Police Service
between 1995 and 1997, Deputy Commissioner Jarratt headed up the
Service Reform Team for Commissioner Ryan. A significant program of
reform has been occurring within the Service and he has been
instrumental in delivering a higher standard of policing to the
people of New South Wales.
Jeff has been awarded the Australian Police Medal and National
Medal and clasp. He has an Arts degree in Politics and a Masters
degree in Business Administration from Macquarie University. Deputy
Commissioner Jarratt is a State Councillor for the Australian
Quality Council and has been an evaluator for the Australian Quality
Awards. He has presented papers on a wide range of subjects
including ethics, privacy, community policing, total quality
management in policing, car theft and managing in a changing
environment.
The Deputy Commissioner is committed to both his family and the
various charities he supports, demonstrated by the fact he has made
more than 100 donations to the Red Cross Blood Service. He has a
passion for cricket and sport generally and enjoys walking and water
aerobics... activities which bring balance to a very hectic work
schedule.
