UPDATING THE POLICE UNIFORM

The Blue Bar of the Law

A trial of modified police uniforms has been announced by the NSW Police. The uniforms are designed to increase comfort and safety for frontline police.
Five hundred police from a number of commands will be issued with navy drill pants with side pockets, general purpose GP boots and navy baseball caps.

The trial will be conducted in:

Tuggerah Lakes - Greater Hume Transit Police - Lake Illawarra - Kings Cross - Mt Druitt - Campsie - Bankstown

The trial clothing will be issued in addition to existing uniforms.
The aim is to give police a wider choice of dress for the job, and improve comfort and practicality for street policing.
The six month trial, which will cost the department $104,000 has now got underway.
