A
trial of modified police uniforms has been announced by
the NSW Police. The uniforms are designed to increase
comfort and safety for frontline police.
Five hundred police from a number of commands will be
issued with navy drill pants with side pockets, general
purpose GP boots and navy baseball caps.
The trial will be conducted in:
Tuggerah
Lakes - Greater Hume Transit Police - Lake Illawarra -
Kings Cross - Mt Druitt - Campsie - Bankstown
The trial clothing will be issued in addition to
existing uniforms.
The aim is to give police a wider choice of dress for
the job, and improve comfort and practicality for street
policing.
The six month trial, which will cost the department
$104,000 has now got underway.
