BLOOMFIELD,
Clement Kitchener Wharton Wallis
Constable
7 February, 1947.
On 6 February, 1947, Constable Bloomfield was performing
general patrols of the Michelago area, where he was the
Officer in Charge. About 5pm he left Jerangle on his
Police motor cycle outfit, intending to visit a nearby
property. A few minutes later the Constable apparently
lost control of the cycle, and collided with large
boulders beside the roadway. As a result, Constable
Bloomfield was thrown to the ground, sustaining server
injuries. He died the following day.

Constable was born in 1915 and joined the New South Wales
Police Force on 17 April, 1941. At the time of his death,
he was stationed at Michelago.

MALONE,
John Hawkes
Constable 1st Class
1 May, 1947.
On 1 May, 1947 Constable Malone was one of two Police
Public Safety Bureau motor cyclists engaged in escorting a
military convoy along the Bathurst Road to Sydney. Whilst
negotiating a bend in the road near Medlow Bath, just
north of Katoomba, the Constable lost control of his motor
cycle outfit and collided head-on with another vehicle. As
a result of the accident Constable Malone sustained severe
head injuries and died in the Katoomba District Hospital a
short time later.
The
Constable was born in 1912 and joined the New South Wales
Police Force on 29 April, 1935. At the time of his death,
he was attached to the Public Safety Bureau.

McNEIL,
Lawrence Ernest
Constable
25 October, 1947.
On 25 October, 1947 Constable McNeil was riding a Police
motor cycle along the Pacific Highway, returning to
Grafton from a patrol to Bushgrove. At Wyatt's Corner,
near Ulmarra, the cycle collided head-on with another
vehicle, and the Constable was killed instantly.
The
Constable was born in 1924 and joined the New South Wales
Police Force on 4 August, 1941 as a cadet. He was sworn in
on 26 March, 1945. At the time of his death, he was
stationed at Grafton.

PRATT,
Edwin Oliver
Sergeant 3rd Class
19 October, 1945.
On the night of the 1 October, 1948, Sergeant Pratt was
directing traffic at a railway crossing at Katoomba. About
8.50pm a truck passed over the crossing and as it passed
the Sergeant attempted to walk behind it, not realising it
was towing a timber jinker. Unfortunately the Sergeant was
hit by the jinker which inflicted severe injuries. He died
on 19 October, 1948.
The
Sergeant was born in 1904 and joined the New South Wales
Police Force on 14 May, 1924. At the time of his death, he
was stationed at Katoomba.

PATCH, Allen Boyd
Constable
5 February, 1949.
On 5 February, 1949, Constable Patch was riding a Police
motor cycle from Parramatta to Sutton Forest where he was
to perform special Vice Squad duty. About ten kilometres
north of Mittagong, on the Hume Highway, the cycle left
the roadway, throwing the Constable onto a rock heap. As a
result he sustained a fractured skull and died a short
time later in the Berrima District Hospital.
The
Constable was born in 1922 and joined the New South
Wales Police Force on 11 November, 1946. At the time of
his death, he was stationed at Rose Bay.

MORLEY,
Raymond Dillon
Sergeant 1st Class
25 June, 1949.
On the evening of the 1 May, 1947 Constable Morley was
patrolling the goods yards at the Kempsey Railway Station
when he located a man acting suspiciously near a goods
shed. Whilst he was attempting to detain the man to take
him to the West Kempsey Police Station, the man resisted
violently, striking the Constable on the right upper arm.
The bruise caused by the blow eventually developed into a
melanoma on the Constable's shoulder. He was admitted to
the Macleay District Hospital in March, 1947 for
treatment, however eighteen months later he was admitted
to the Prince Henery Hospital as his health had continued
to deteriorate. He died on 25 June, 1949.
The
Constable was born in 1917 and joined the New South Wales
Police Force on 3 July, 1939. At the time of his death, he
was stationed at West Kempsey.

SMITH,
William Roy
Sergeant 1st Class
1 September, 1951.
On the afternoon of the 1 September, 1951, Sergeant Smith
and Constable Searl attended the Commercial Hotel, Port
Kembla, in relation to an intoxicated man causing trouble.
After a struggle, the Police managed to gain control over
the man and walk him to the Police Station. Although
suffering some physical discomfort after the struggle, the
Sergeant remained on duty. A short time later, however, he
began to lose the use of his arm, and experience
considerable pain. He was taken to the Wollongong District
Hospital but unfortunately died at 7.10pm that day.
The
Sergeant was born in 1895 and joined the New South Wales
Police Force on 9 September, 1921. At the time of his
death, he was stationed at Port Kembla.

MILLS, Frank Alexander
Senior Constable
6 December, 1951.
On the night of the 5 December, 1951, Senior Constable
Mills was riding a Police motor cycle from Mt Victoria
Police Station to Blackheath Police Station. Whilst
travelling along the Great Western Highway he noticed a
vehicle travelling without lights. He stopped the vehicle,
and while he was speaking to the driver, a passing vehicle
struck Constable Mills and two other men. All three were
treated at the scene and conveyed to the Blue Mountains
District Hospital, however Constable Mills died the
following day.
The
Constable was born in 1905 and joined the New South
Wales Police Force on 12 February, 1930. At the time of
his death, he was stationed at Mt Victoria.

MORTLEY,
Garnet Frederick
Constable
1 June, 1953.
On 27 May, 1953, Constable Mortley was riding a
Police Special Traffic Patrol solo cycle to Sydney
following an escort to the south coast. Whilst
travelling along the Princes Highway near Waterfall, the
front tyre on the cycle blew out. The Constable was
thrown to the roadway, sustaining compound fractures and
severe head injuries. He was conveyed to the St George
District Hospital, where he died five days later.
The
Constable was born in 1928 and joined the New South
Wales Police Force on 17 January, 1949. At the time of
his death, he was attached to the Special Traffic
Patrol, Sydney.

WILLIAMS,
Evan Clyde
Constable
11 August, 1953.
On the evening of the 9 August, 1953, Constable
Williams was riding a Police motor cycle outfit along
Riverstone Road, Riverstone, when the cycle collided
with another vehicle which had been travelling in the
opposite direction. The Constable was treated at
the scene before being conveyed to the Hawkesbury
District Hospital suffering from sever injuries
including a fractured skull. He was transferred to the
Prince Henry Hospital that night, where he was operated
upon, however he died on 11 August, 1953 without
regaining consciousness
The
Constable was born in 1923 and joined the New South
Wales Police Force on 28 March, 1949. At the time of his
death, he was stationed at Riverstone.
