Merrilyn was last seen leaving The Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club on 18 May 1994. On 23 May 1994, Merrilyn's sister, Lesley Olsen, received a letter from her. It was postmarked in the eastern suburbs of Sydney on 20/05/94.

Anne was last seen on the Monday prior to Christmas 1993 (20 December). She said she was going to catch a bus to Bondi Junction and was going away for a few weeks. This is believed to be the last time she was seen by her friends.
