Sgt Chris Vardy
All New South Wales police are required to undergo
constant training. Weapons training, resuscitation and officer safety are components of
yearly competencies which all police must meet. Police also receive ongoing education in
relation to new legislation, Police Service policies and local issues.
The education and development officer is responsible for delivering, co-ordinating and
monitoring all facets of education and training for police within the Far South Coast area
of Command. This may be in the form of mandatory lectures or lectures developed on a local
needs basis.
This officer is also responsible for the placement of police for academy and region
based courses. Other duties include advice on the many courses available and the career
paths of individual police and administrative staff.
Assistance is given to student police officers during their secondment to the command
and the education officer also assists with operational needs when required
.
