Local Area Commander:

Superintendent Rick Mawdsley.

Inspector Rick Mawdsley head of the Crime Management UnitSuperintendent Rick Mawdsley is the crime manager for the South Coast Local Area Police Command. He is responsible for the management of investigations; developing and implementing proactive strategies for combat of crime; and monitoring and identifying crime trends throughout the Far South Coast Command.

Whilst he works with all police in the Command, Rick's immediate team includes the Detectives at Bega and Batemans Bay, Community Safety Officer, Youth Liaison Officer, Intelligence officers and Roster Personal.

Rick has over 25 years police service, having served in Sydney, Albury, Quandialla (a single unit station), Forbes and Police Academy at Goulburn. He has completed undergraduate and post graduate studies which include, an Associate Diploma in Justice Administration, Bachelor of Social Science majoring in psychology, Graduate Certificate in Management and Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.

His interests include organization behaviour, surfing and martial arts, the latter  holding a 3rd Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Inspector Darryl Walsh.

Inspector Darryl Walsh was born in Southhampton, England in August of 1962. He emigrated to Australia in July 1981 and gained employment as a Trainee Accountant with BHP in Wollongong, NSW.

Darryl joined the NSW Police Service in 1984. He  served at Kogarah police station in 1984 - 86 and then transferred to Dapto in 1986 - 87. Another shift saw him arrive at Moruya in 1987 - 89. Darryl was made Lock Up Keeper of Moruya 1n 1989 till 1993.

In 1993 it was off again, this time to Broken Hill, NSW. Darryl spent his time with General Duties until 1994, 1995 he became the District Licensing Co-Ord Sgt. of that area. In 1997 - 98 the Licensing Sgt.

In October 1998, Darryl Walsh made his way down to Batemans Bay with his wife and little daughter. He is now one of four Duty Officers providing leadership in the Far South Coast LAC.

Darryl has in 1993 gained his Associate Diploma in Social Science, (Policing Studies), in 1993.
