Wollongong Local Area Command
predominantly covers the Northern Suburbs of Wollongong. The northern
border crosses through the Royal National Park at Waterfall, where the F6
Tollgates were formerly located. To the south, the border travels along
Five Islands Road. The eastern boundary follows the coastline, while to
the west, the boundary falls to the east of the water catchment area along
the Illawarra Escarpment.
The area that the Local Area
Command covers is 476 sq km. The population as of May 2000, is 120500 with
a density of 253 persons per sq km. The Local Area Command has at present
178 police officers within the Command and 20 administrative staff.

violence, crime and fear.
